My New Life

Quick posting! (Sorry for having this jammed down your throat though if you've been getting updates/pictures from Jason..Thought, I'd do a quick recap since I'm sending this out along with an e-mail) if you didn't know we had our precious baby girl!!

Carson Michelle Hicks borns January 20 @ 4:09pm via c-section 19 inches, 8 pounds even.

We got home from the hospital yesterday so last night was our first night at home. Mom is a tad tired as I type this, but Starbucks coffee seems to be the end-all cure for anything..As you can imagine we were quite the site last night as we were somehow afraid she'd quit breathing if we left her in her crib. The video monitor was the Carson TV show LIVE from our bedroom.

I'll give you the mom highlights of the day:
-Good Bless Lenice & Juan for bringing us dinner and giving us a few hours of free arms. My #1 piece of advice for preggos is to LET YOUR FRIENDS FEED YOU! Uncle Michael brought us McDonalds for lunch yesterday too and if it weren't for those 2, not sure the thought of food would have entered my mind.
-I love the advice 'Sleep when the baby sleeps'. This is assuming that you child actually sleeps. We are blessed with a nocturnal child and she was completely alert from the hours of 1am - 5am. I would have loved to take that tidbit and applied it.
-Blowouts. Happen. OH. MY. GOSH.  I'll again spare the details, but I have never in my life washed so much laundry at 3:45am. In fact, Jason & I laughed so hard just b/c we were impressed.
-Poo also happens. I think God is training me to get over my fear of poo. I nearly blew a stitch this morning. As I was feeding Carson, Jason brought me coffee. He's sporting his Phi Delt fishing trip t-shirt with a lovely brown streak down the middle. Um yeah, what's that part of the fish graphic? Oh, just part of Carson's 3:45am blowout. You know you are tired if you can sport that and not even notice it for 5 hours.

Carson however is perfect. She loves tummy time and her favorite hobby includes laying on my chest. Looking at her, I could care less about anything else. I even skipped washing my hair yesterday in the shower b/c I decided I'd rather hold her than have to deal with it. We are smitten.

Shelley, she is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I'm so impressed you did laundry so late/early in the morning... and there will be more poo in the future... lots of it... before you know it, you'll be a poo expert, able to identify different colors, consistency, smell - you name it! Have fun with her!!!
